National Conference on War Powers, Law, and Democracy(October 2, 2009 - October 3, 2009)"Who Decides About War" will be a national conference confronting essential questions raised by the U.S. invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. These questions are timely, as the political process that brought the United States into those wars is widely recognized today as having been flawed at best, dishonest at worst. Democracy Track at the U.S. Social ForumThe Democracy Track is a series of sessions and community spaces at the U.S. Social Forum in Atlanta, Georgia, June 27-July 1, 2007. The purpose of these sessions is to centralize democracy in all of our everyday struggles. Guard Workshop at National Assembly(July 11, 2009)Anti-war activist Elaine Brower, Mikhail Pappas, and other members of the national Guard Home campaign will speak at a workshop outlining a state-by-state legislative effort to bring the National Guard home from Iraq and Afghanistan. ASSEMBLY HEARING: Safeguard Wisconsin's Guard Bill(March 9, 2010)Assembly Bill 203, the bill to enact legal safeguards to protect Wisconsin's National Guard from unlawful overseas deployments, has been scheduled for a hearing before the Assembly's Veterans and Military Affairs Committee on March 9, 2010. Please join us, so that the hearing room is wall-to-wall with people who care about our Guard members and families and want to see them protected from misuse by the federal government.
